Job summary

The William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation, a Virginia-based nonprofit focused on animal welfare, seeks an Executive Director to lead operations, fundraising, and external relations during a transitional period.

You will work with the Board and continue donor relationships, community partnerships, and institutional knowledge, guiding the organization through growth. You will oversee daily operations, financial health, HR for staff and volunteers, and grant-making, while shaping strategy and donor

Qualifications

• You have at least five years of nonprofit management or executive-level experience.
• You possess strong written and verbal communications skills.
• You can build relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
• You have experience reporting to a nonprofit board.
• You are proficient with budgeting, audits, and financial reporting.
• You show passion for animal welfare and community engagement.
• You can lead and mentor staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, financial health, and talent recruitment for board and committees.
• Drive organization-wide fundraising, grant-making, and external relations.
• Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for growth and impact.
• Lead development, program, HR, and governance activities in partnership with volunteers and staff.
• Represent the Foundation publicly and maintain donor stewardship and partnerships.
