Job summary

William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation seeks an Executive Director to lead all aspects of the Virginia-based nonprofit focused on animal welfare and community engagement. You will oversee fundraising, strategy, and external relations, working with a transitioning CEO and a strengthened board.

You will drive organizational growth, ensure financial health, recruit talent for board and committees, and steward donor relationships to maximize impact across Virginia.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of nonprofit management or exec-level experience.
• Strong written and verbal communications; public-facing representation.
• Proven ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners and civic stakeholders.
• Experience reporting to a nonprofit board of directors.
• Financial fluency with budgeting, audits, and reporting standards.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience creating and managing budgets and organizational finances.
• Experience collaborating with staff, board members, volunteers and diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategy including annual campaigns, major gifts, grants, sponsorships and donor stewardship.
• Design and execute the annual fundraising/development plan with the Board and staff.
• Plan and lead fundraising events (virtual and in-person).
• Maintain donor, sponsor and community relationships; implement stewardship and recognition.
• Oversee HR, finance, and compliance; manage staff and volunteers; report performance to the board.
