Job summary

Stanford University is seeking an Executive Director to lead and manage the Stanford University Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory (SU-AITC) across Stanford and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The role oversees planning, operations, budgets, and regulatory compliance for human-subjects research and clinical trials.

The Executive Director will coordinate with Co-Directors to translate research into validated digital-health technologies, represent the center at university

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in a relevant field (aging studies, brain sciences, neuroscience, psychology, public health, data science, bioengineering).
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience leading research programs, operations, or center administration.
• Demonstrated clinical trial experience, including operational and regulatory aspects.
• Hands-on IRB experience, including single-IRB (sIRB) and regulatory requirements.
• Strong human-subjects research knowledge, ideally with vulnerable or older-adult populations.
• Experience leading large multi-site research programs, including budget development and fundraising.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of representing the program externally.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and operations for programs with significant business, regulatory and technical challenges.
• Evaluate programs, identify issues, and develop alternatives.
• Review trends and advise on goals of the program.
• Represent the program within the department and to external stakeholders.
• Develop outreach strategy and manage fundraising activities.
• Oversee budgets and monitor finances, forecasting and reporting.
• May direct and supervise staff.
