Job description

SISKIYOU OPPORTUNITY CENTER
Executive Director Recruitment Announcement

The Siskiyou Opportunity Center (SOC) is seeking a new Executive Director. SOC is a rural nonprofit with a 56-year history of serving adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in Siskiyou and Shasta Counties in Northern California. The organization provides vocational training and employment opportunities to foster independence, enhance self-esteem, and promote full participation in society. It also offers structured daily activities and independent living skills training in a safe, inclusive environment.

The Center’s main office is in Weed, with additional facilities in Yreka, Mount Shasta, and Redding. SOC employs more than 60 full- and part-time staff members and currently serves about 120 clients. Its total monthly payroll, which includes about 50 client/workers, exceeds $400,000. The organization maintains a fleet of about 45 vehicles and operates on an annual budget of about $6 million. SOC funding sources include contracts with Caltrans for custodial crews at multiple I-5 rest areas in Siskiyou and Shasta counties, as well as a contract with the City of Redding to operate its transfer station. Additionally, SOC derives revenue from CalRecycle through the Mount Shasta recycling facility. The Lanterman Act provides additional funding for adult day programs and Independent Living Skills (ILS) training through the California Department of Developmental Services. The Redding office also provides job placement assistance for the Department of Rehabilitation. For additional information, please watch this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Dwj23C9J2A

Candidates must demonstrate lifelong learning and educational achievement commensurate with the position’s complexity. A bachelor’s degree or higher in behavioral sciences, special education, public administration, or business/finance is highly desirable.
