Job summary

The Edventure Group in Clarksburg, West Virginia, is seeking an Executive Director to lead a nonprofit serving individuals with disabilities. The role oversees strategic and operational leadership, financial sustainability, technology modernization, and mission execution.

Reporting to the Board, you will expand partnerships, diversify funding, and guide staff through change, while maintaining a strong connection to the individuals and families served.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit or related field.
• Experience in IDD, human services, or similarly regulated environments.
• Proven fundraising, grant development, and partnership building.
• Experience with financial management and strategic planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Compensation: $80,000 to $100,000 depending on relevant experience

About the Opportunity:

We are conducting a confidential search for an Executive Director to lead an established North Central West Virginia nonprofit serving individuals with intellectual, cognitive and developmental disabilities. The organization generates approximately $5M in annual revenue and is entering an important next chapter of modernization, growth, and expanded community impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization, its people, programs, financial sustainability, and execution of its mission.

The successful candidate will be a mission-driven leader who combines strong business judgment with the ability to balance continuity with thoughtful change. The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership, oversee financial performance, lead technology and process modernization, and expand relationships with families, partners, funders, and the broader community.

Responsibilities —

The successful candidate will focus on have a proven track record in the following:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership while maintaining strong program quality, accountability, and compliance.
• Lead practical technology and process improvements that strengthen efficiency, communication, reporting, and service delivery.
• Oversee financial performance and diversify revenue through grants, fundraising, partnerships, contracts, and new service opportunities.
• Partner closely with the Board of Directors on strategy, organizational priorities, risks, and growth opportunities.
• Lead, coach, and engage an experienced team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Expand relationships with families, community partners, businesses, funders, government agencies, and referral sources.
• Identify and develop new services, partnerships, funding sources, and revenue opportunities.
• Respect and preserve a strong organizational history while shaping the organization’s future direction.
• Maintain hands-on connection to the mission, including interaction with the individuals and families served.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Mission-driven leadership combined with strong business judgment.
• Leadership experience within community health, IDD, human services, healthcare, nonprofit, or a similarly regulated service environment.
• Financial management, strategic planning, organizational growth, and Board interaction experience.
• Fundraising, grant development, community outreach, and partnership development experience.
• Technology modernization, process improvement, and change leadership experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, team-building, and relationship-management skills.
• An action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and collaborative leadership style.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Candidates who meet all requirements AND have IDD waiver experience will receive preference.
