Job summary

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a County Director for Child Welfare Services located in Clayton County, GA. This leadership role directs policies, budgets, and staff within a county unit, reporting to Region 13 Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of experience including three years in management of subordinate managers/supervisors in a human service delivery program.
• Experience in social services or related field.
• Related qualifications/experience in social work, behavioral science, or public administration.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and assesses policy and program effectiveness to meet outcomes.
• Ensures compliance with policies, documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Builds cooperative, team-oriented environments within units and with providers.
• Maintains positive working relationships with the community and DFCS Board.
• Develops and administers budgets.
• Facilitates communication within units and at policy levels.
• Leads hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline of staff as needed.
• Leads a comprehensive system of public assistance and social services.
• Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for social services staff.
• Plans, administers, and maintains operation of social services programs.
• Reviews new/current programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related area

Master's degree in a related area (preferred)
