Job description

Passion. Purpose. Impact. CJP is at the heart of Greater Boston's Jewish community, but our reach is felt around the world. Ranked by BBJ as Massachusetts’ largest non-profit organization – CJP is a philanthropic investor and mobilizer of people, resources, and skills that make a bigger difference locally and globally. We focus on making Jewish life and learning accessible to all individuals and families in Boston and beyond. We thoughtfully invest in the care and well-being of all community members. And we provide stability and growth to nonprofit organizations and institutions that underpin our community. Our greatest resource is our people — the staff, volunteers, partners, and leaders who help make Greater Boston’s Jewish community a welcoming home. It’s this energy and commitment that drive CJP’s mission. We are one of Boston's oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations and we are currently seeking an Executive Communications Associate.

CJP is thrilled to announce an exciting new Associate opportunity for candidates interested in executive leadership careers across the Jewish community. The Associate will work closely with CJP’s President and CEO, Rabbi Marc Baker, to amplify CJP’s messaging and thought leadership. In collaboration with the Marketing team, CJP’s PR agency, and executive leadership, this unique role will assist the CEO with his community outreach and communication strategy, including relationship-building and understanding the partner organization ecosystem that sustains Greater Boston’s Jewish community. In addition, the Associate will have many learning opportunities about the stewardship of a nearly 130-year-old Jewish organization.

Essential Functions:

  1. Bring to life and manage the execution of the President and CEO’s thought leadership and community engagement strategy.
  2. In collaboration with the Integrated Marketing team, lead the creation of the President and CEO’s key messaging and critical communications, recommending strategies to ensure CJP is delivering on its goals.
  3. Understand organizational priorities and identify opportunities to amplify our work through the CEO’s voice.
  4. Strategically evaluate and recommend speaking opportunities for the President and CEO that further relationships with our community and partner organizations.
  5. Serve as the key partner for the President and CEO for all speaking engagements, working cross-functionally to learn about our partner organizations, donors, and organizational goals.
  6. Join the President and CEO at critical speaking engagements and amplify messaging in real-time through digital and social channels.
  7. Be on the frontlines of the President and CEO’s press and media engagements, assisting in the coordination between CJP’s PR agency and the President and CEO.
  8. Have your finger on the pulse of local news and conversations within the Jewish communal ecosystem locally, nationally, and globally.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned with or without accommodations.

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Advanced degree (e.g., Master's) is a plus.

Experience:

  1. Minimum of 2-4 years of proven experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  2. Experience working within the Jewish community or a strong understanding of Jewish culture, history, and contemporary Jewish life.
  3. Significant experience in executive leadership support or similar roles is preferred.
  4. Experience in executing communications and marketing strategies.
  5. Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with key stakeholders, including donors and partner organizations.

Skills/Competencies:

  1. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for creating key messaging and critical communications for the President and CEO.
  2. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and recommend strategies to amplify CJP's work through the CEO's voice.
  3. Relationship-Building: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, donors, and stakeholders.
  4. Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  5. Digital and Social Media Savvy: Experience with digital and social media channels to amplify messaging in real-time.
  6. Research and Analysis: Ability to stay informed about local news and conversations within the Jewish communal ecosystem and conduct research on best practices.
  7. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with the Integrated Marketing team, CJP's PR agency, and executive leadership.
  8. Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.
  9. Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  10. Commitment to Mission: Strong personal commitment to CJP's mission and the future of the Jewish community.
  11. Availability: Flexibility to attend events and meetings, sometimes outside of regular business hours.

Working Conditions:

  1. Hybrid Work Schedule: CJP staff follow a hybrid work model. On-site work is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while remote work is an option on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with occasional in-person meetings on those days.
  2. Physical Requirements: This role involves remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods, primarily working at a computer. Staff need to be able to carry a laptop and bag to and from the office.
