Job summary

ShopRite in Newton, NJ is seeking an Executive Chef to lead the Food Service Department, drive product quality, and ensure outstanding guest experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

You will supervise culinary operations, manage staffing and scheduling, control costs, uphold safety and sanitation standards, and collaborate with store leadership to achieve department goals and fruitfully engage customers daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts or Sciences preferred.
• 3+ years in a high-volume food operation with P&L exposure.
• Culinary, seafood, and meat experience preferred.
• Current SERVSAFE certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all functions of the Food Service Department to achieve sales, profit and customer experience goals.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and visually appealing department with focus on safe handling.
• Conduct interviews, performance appraisals, and progressive discipline.
• Coach and motivate Associates to foster development.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and QA standards.
• Create department scheduling based on demand and budget.
• Manage inventory and ordering of food and supplies.
• Monitor budgets including labor and food costs.
• Enforce safety and sanitation: HACCP logs, inspections and reporting.
• Provide great customer service and resolve feedback.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration with peers.
