Job Summary:

We seek an inspirational and organized leader, ready to actively participate in daily kitchen operations including recruiting, training, and food preparation. The Executive Chef will showcase culinary talents by delivering high-quality food and developing the onsite staff. The role involves improving resident, employee, and client satisfaction while maximizing financial performance, ensuring budget adherence, and following safety and sanitation protocols.

Leading Culinary Operations:

  1. Lead daily culinary production, ensuring food quality, presentation, safety, sanitation, productivity, and profitability.
  2. Determine food presentation styles and create decorative displays.
  3. Guide menu development based on product availability, including seasonal or special ingredients.
  4. Source fresh ingredients, monitor produce and meat freshness.
  5. Ensure consistency in food seasoning, portioning, and appearance.
  6. Research customer preferences to develop menus with local flavors.
  7. Prepare and cook a variety of foods, including for special events.
  8. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
  9. Supervise and coordinate food preparation staff activities.
  10. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  11. Provide guidance, set performance standards, and monitor staff performance.
  12. Communicate safety procedures clearly and monitor adherence.
  13. Maintain high standards of raw and cooked food quality.
  14. Follow and enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  15. Manage purchasing, receiving, and storage of food supplies.

Business & Financial Acumen:

  1. Contribute to business strategy aligned with client’s mission, vision, and values.
  2. Manage department expenses, including food costs, supplies, uniforms, and equipment.
  3. Develop and enforce purchasing and receiving procedures.
  4. Analyze financial data to adjust plans, labor, and costs.
  5. Develop and manage departmental budget, monitoring costs regularly.
  6. Identify revenue opportunities and potential issues.
  7. Control costs and oversee inventory and purchasing.
  8. Schedule staff based on forecasted needs.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:

  1. Create resident satisfaction through staff training and resource provision.
  2. Maintain professional demeanor and engage positively with residents and staff.
  3. Enhance service quality through communication and coaching.
  4. Support service behaviors that exceed expectations.
  5. Empower employees to deliver excellent service, providing ongoing training.
  6. Foster genuine hospitality and teamwork.
  7. Seek feedback and develop strategies for service improvement.
  8. Review satisfaction data to identify improvement areas.
  9. Handle guest concerns promptly and effectively.

Team Building and Management:

  1. Lead regular team meetings.
  2. Establish performance, budget, and team goals.
  3. Solicit employee feedback and address concerns.
  4. Implement strategies to promote team engagement.
  5. Ensure fair treatment and equitable practices.
  6. Provide necessary training and tools for job responsibilities.
  7. Communicate expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
  8. Offer coaching and counseling to support performance and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience.
  • Extensive catering experience is a plus.
  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations preferred.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience.
  • Hands-on chef experience required.
  • Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs.
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable.
