Job summary

MBTA in Boston is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead financial management, budgeting, accounting, and treasury operations for the transit authority. The role directs a professional team and partners with the Chief Administrative Officer, Board, and external stakeholders to ensure fiscal responsibility and strategic funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or a related field required.
• Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience; 7+ years in a leadership role.
• Extensive experience with GAAP/GASB, budgeting, forecasting, audits and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Directs financial management, treasury, risk management, capital finance and accounting functions.
• Oversees operating and capital budget development, consolidation and monitoring.
• Ensures compliance with GAAP, GASB and regulatory requirements; communicates with Board and leadership.
• Leads strategic financial planning, pro forma projections and funding strategies.
• Partners with CAO, real estate, procurement and external stakeholders to optimize resources.
