Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Underwriter for the Excess & Surplus/Specialty (E&S/S) team across the lower 48 states. You will assess risks, determine pricing, endorsements, and exposures, while collaborating with underwriting leadership to meet production and profitability goals.

Experience in E&S and strong communication with agents is essential. The role involves handling complex accounts, maintaining policy integrity, and contributing to marketing and growth efforts.

Qualifications

• Underwriter with 3 years related experience or as underwriter in E&S preferred.
• Knowledge of lines underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with agents and brokers.

Responsibilities

• Review risks with agents/brokers and decide on acceptance or declination.
• Quote, price and underwrite new and renewal policies and endorsements for complex accounts.
• Monitor risk selection and pricing for agency book and programs.
