Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks an Exceptional Education Teacher to implement an IEP-driven program for students with disabilities, collaborate with the principal and Exceptional Education team, and adapt curricula to meet diverse needs.

You will design long-range instructional plans, use data to drive instruction, integrate assistive technology, manage time efficiently, maintain records and reports, and maintain confidentiality while fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama law.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for assigned students.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan instruction, and manage data.
• Ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of disabilities.
• Participates in development and implementation of students’ IEPs.
• Schedules IEP meetings and monitors student progress.
• Employs varied instructional strategies aligned to student needs.
• Uses data to inform instructional planning and evaluate programs.
• Integrates instructional and assistive technology in the classroom.
• Maintains a clean, organized learning environment and manages time effectively.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to policies and regulations.
