Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under applicable Alabama acts.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for the needs of assigned students.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, instruct, and manage data.

Responsibilities

• Supports school system vision and priorities.
• Understands child development and disability characteristics.
• Participates in IEP development as part of the IEP team.
• Implements and monitors IEPs.
• Schedules IEP meetings and coordinates with staff.
• Uses varied instructional strategies tailored to student needs.
• Monitors inclusive participation and provides materials or modifications as needed.
• Uses technology to plan, instruct, and facilitate learning.
• Maintains organized learning environments and professional ethics.
• Maintains confidentiality and submits reports timely.
