Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act and related laws.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Effective interpersonal skills with diverse groups.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for students with disabilities.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan instruction, manage data, and submit reports.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system's vision, goals and priorities.
• Participates in the development of students’ IEPs as a member of the IEP team.
• Implements students’ IEPs and schedules IEP meetings.
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies tailored to student needs and capabilities.
• Monitors student participation in regular education programs and provides needed modifications.
• Utilizes technology to plan instruction and facilitate learning.
• Maintains a clean, organized learning environment and handles materials efficiently.
• Interprets data to inform instructional planning and program evaluation.
• Communicates high expectations for all students.
• Maintains confidentiality of school/workplace information.
