Job summary

Richmond City Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Exceptional Education at William Fox Elementary School in Richmond, VA. The role supports teachers with instructional activities, one-on-one support, and classroom management in an exceptional education setting.

Responsibilities include reinforcing content, supporting self-care, maintaining records, assisting with group and individual instruction, and promoting positive behavior while adhering to confidentiality and safety

Qualifications

• Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or Associate’s degree or 60 hours of college credits.
• Minimum of one year experience as an instructional assistant preferred.
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, time management and public relations skills.
• Ability to perform basic math and use business English accurately.
• Able to establish relationships and work with others effectively.
• Good PC skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

• Assist students in reinforcing material through repetition and guidance.
• Support self-care areas to build independence.
• Prepare and maintain files and reports.
• Assist teacher with duties and assign specialized tasks as needed.
• Provide individual and group instruction and supervise students during the day.
