Job summary

William A. Hazel, Inc. is seeking an Excavator Operator to join our Pipe Team. You will operate excavators safely, lift and set pipe and structures, and coordinate with pipelayers to ensure efficient workflow on outdoor sites in varying weather.

You must follow OSHA safety and trenching regulations, work around underground utilities, and keep equipment in good condition. The role demands strong teamwork and awareness of surroundings in a loud construction environment.

William A. Hazel, Inc. is now hiring a Excavator Operator to join our Pipe Team.

• Know OSHA safety and trenching regulations.
• Be able to operate excavator in a safe way at all times (will always be around men.) Lifting and setting pipe and structures.
• Experience with excavating trenches for a pipe crew.
• Able to work around underground utilities (telephones, gas lines, etc.).
• Keep equipment in good working condition (grease, oil, water, etc.). Clean tracks.
• Report anything wrong with equipment.
• Be aware what is going on around him/her at all times.
• Talk to pipelayer and work as team player.
• Dig in trench boxes.
• Separate dirt (occasionally). Topsoil or mud separated from good.
• Get along with other crew members.

The work environment charachteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborn particles, extreme cold, extreme heat,and vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Salary: Hourly $29.00 to $38/hour
