Job summary

Call The Bee in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to operate heavy equipment, oversee on-site activities, and install utilities and supports safely and accurately. You will identify underground utilities, coordinate crews, maintain OSHA compliance, and lead ground teams to complete tasks on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Heavy equipment experience operating excavators and working around underground utilities.
  • Ability to read utility plans and identify water and sewer lines.
  • Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10/30 preferred; trench safety certification a plus.
  • Leadership experience directing crews and coordinating tasks.
  • Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors and perform demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Excavator Operation—dig trenches, foundations, and utility lines with precision.
  • Water & Drain Line Identification— locate and verify lines before and during excavation.
  • Leadership Duties— act as on-site foreman; coordinate laborers and communicate with supervisors.
  • Shoring Setup— install, inspect, and maintain trench shoring systems.
  • Site Preparation— clear, grade, and prepare job sites; remove debris.
  • Material Handling— load trucks and support multi-equipment operations.
  • Equipment Inspection— perform daily checks and report issues.
  • Safety Compliance— enforce PPE use and trench safety regulations.
  • Team Coordination— direct ground crews and maintain clear site communication.

Job Responsibilities
  • Excavator Operation— Operate excavators to dig trenches, foundations, and utility lines with precision.
  • Water & Drain Line Identification— Locate, identify, and verify water mains, sewer lines, and drainage systems before and during excavation.
  • Leadership Duties— Act as on‑site foreman; coordinate laborers, communicate with supervisors, and ensure tasks are completed to plan.
  • Shoring Setup— Install, inspect, and maintain trench shoring systems to protect workers and maintain OSHA compliance.
  • Site Preparation— Clear, grade, and prepare job sites; remove debris and support layout activities.
  • Material Handling— Load trucks, move materials, and support multi‑equipment operations.
  • Equipment Inspection— Perform daily inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Safety Compliance— Enforce safety protocols, PPE requirements, and trench safety regulations.
  • Team Coordination— Direct ground crews, signal operators, and maintain clear communication across the job site.
Qualifications
  • Heavy Equipment Experience— 3–5yearsoperating excavators and working around underground utilities.
  • Utility Knowledge— Ability to read utility plans, identify water and sewer lines, and work safely around live services.
  • Licensing— Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10/30 preferred; trench safety certification a plus.
  • Leadership Skills— Experience directing crews, coordinating tasks, and maintaining workflow.
  • Technical Skills— Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
  • Physical Capability— Ability to lift 50+lbs, work outdoors, and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Driver’s License– Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
