Job summary

Knife River Corporation is seeking an Excavation Superintendent to oversee excavation crews across multiple job sites, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget adherence. You will coordinate with project managers and subcontractors, read blueprints, and enforce OSHA standards to deliver quality results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in excavation or heavy civil construction, including 2+ years in a leadership/supervisory role
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of safety standards and ability to enforce them

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage excavation crews on multiple job sites
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and subcontractors
• Ensure proper layout, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site prep for asphalt work
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications
• Monitor job site safety and enforce company policies and OSHA standards
• Schedule manpower, equipment, and materials to maintain project timelines
• Identify and resolve issues that could affect the project timeline or quality
• Maintain daily reports, track job progress, and assist with change orders
• Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with standards and specs
• Participate in project planning meetings and progress updates
