MSU Olin Health Center seeks exam proctors to oversee the administration of final exams, check students in, monitor activity, and answer questions. You will coordinate with the registrar to resolve issues and collect materials at the end of each exam period.
This seasonal, part-time role aligns with the College of Law's exam periods, with morning and afternoon shifts and 3.5–4 hour sessions; 4–30 hours weekly depending on schedule.
The proctor oversees the administration of individual final exams, including checking students into the exam room, ensuring that students only have allowed materials with them, and giving general instructions on how to begin the exam. Once the exam has started, the proctor monitors the exam takers and answers questions as needed, communicating with the registrar's office to resolve any issues that may arise. At the end of the exam, the proctor collects any exam materials from the students. Proctors also may need to ensure that student accommodations are being met by maintaining a quiet and distraction-free environment.
Exam proctors will primarily work during the College of Law's two week exam period at the end of each semester, though there are sometimes midterm and summer shifts available. Typical there are morning and afternoon sessions each day. Average shifts will be 3.5 to 4 hours including setup and completion, and you may work both shifts on a given day if you choose. Some shifts may be much longer or shorter depending on exam length, accommodations, etc. 4-30 hours available per week depending on your schedule.
This is a seasonal position that will include available work at the end of every fall and spring semester, and occasionally summer and midterm availability as well.
Must have general computer knowledge and the ability to stand, sit, or walk around a room for up to six hours.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, students that intend to apply to law school or have a connection to the MSU College of Law are not eligible for the position.
