Job summary

Hands Up Communications is seeking an Ewe Spoken Language Interpreter for on-site, online, or phone interpretation. Independent contractor status; fluency in English and target language required; maintain ethics and confidentiality across assignments.

Responsibilities include facilitating interpretations in diverse settings, collaborating with scheduling staff, and upholding professional standards and client confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; AA accepted or 3+ years experience in lieu.
• Knowledge of the community, culture, and values of the people and language to be interpreted.
• Credentialed in medical interpreting completed or in progress with Hands Up Communications.
• Ability to apply code of ethics and standards of practice.
• Ability to interpret for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate on-site, online, and phone interpreting across various settings (emergency rooms, medical, legal, social services, education).
• Interpret between English and target language accurately, relay critical information faithfully.
• Perform translations that are grammatically and syntactically correct.
• Maintain punctuality and attendance; inform scheduling staff of issues promptly.
• Work collaboratively with other interpreters and represent Hands Up Communications professionally.

Education

Bachelor's degree (preferred)

Associates of Arts degree accepted or 3+ years of experience in lieu of formal degree
