Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support the Expeditionary Electronic Warfare Division at NSWC Crane in Crane, Indiana. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software and firmware across the system lifecycle, with emphasis on testing, traceability, and integration in lab and field environments.

Responsibilities include software design, development, integration, verification, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience designing, coding, integrating, testing, and maintaining software in a structured engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python, C, C++, Java).
  • Experience with unit, integration, and system-level testing.
  • Familiarity with git-based version control and software configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, integrate, test, and maintain software and firmware for EW systems and related environments.
  • Support software lifecycle from design to deployment in field and lab settings.
  • Plan, design, code, test, and deliver software to meet customer requirements.
  • Analyze requirements to ensure test definitions and acceptance criteria cover needs.
  • Perform requirements traceability, risk assessment, and mitigation planning for software efforts.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation efforts.
  • Use Git-based repositories and configuration management practices.
