Job summary

UChicago Medicine-Ingalls Memorial Hospital is seeking a part-time Housekeeper I to join the Environmental Services team. This 0.5 FTE role is onsite in the greater Chicagoland area and involves performing general cleaning procedures in inpatient and outpatient areas, moving furniture, and maintaining patient and non-patient spaces.

The position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, follow written and oral instructions, and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend to floor and reach above head to perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform 10-step general cleaning procedures in all care areas (Inpatient & Outpatient).
• Move and arrange furniture as needed.
• Take down blinds, curtains, drapes and rehang them.
• Wash walls and ceilings.
• Complete EVS projects and other duties as assigned.
• Floor stripping, refinishing, burnishing and spray buffing.
• Vacuum carpets and perform shampooing with carpet equipment.
• Collect general waste and recycling and transport to disposal point.
• Handle biohazardous waste and transport to designated pickup point.
• Operate floor care equipment and battery-operated machines.
• Work from ladder/scaffolding and extension platforms.
