Job summary

University Health KC is seeking an Environmental Services Technician for the UH Lakewood location in Kansas City, MO. This full-time role from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM supports a clean, safe hospital environment by performing cleaning, sanitation, and room turnover across patient areas and common spaces.

Responsibilities include moving furniture as needed, operating floor care equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Communication skills: speak and read English; clear with staff, patients, visitors.
• Physical strength: lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly and heavier items occasionally.
• Equipment knowledge: operate cleaning and floor care equipment safely and effectively.
• Training readiness: complete competency assessment within 30–60 days after training/mentoring.
• Attention to detail: follow written and verbal instructions to maintain cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Clean and service hospital areas per procedures; keep spaces in top condition.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed for operations and setup.
• Maintain sanitation and safety following infection control standards.
• Operate electric and battery-powered floor care equipment safely.
• Read cleaning chemical labels to ensure safe usage and first aid awareness.
