Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) to ensure a clean and safe hospital environment.

You will clean patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas, handle waste, restock supplies, and respond quickly to spills or contamination. The role requires 1 year of experience preferred in acute care hospital environmental services, a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, and strong reading and communication skills.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent the spread of infections
• Properly disposing of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols
• Restock supplies like gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in various hospital areas
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents and communicate promptly using phone, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling between facilities independently
