Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center seeks an experienced Operations Manager II, Environmental Services to lead daily EVS operations, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and patient satisfaction.

The role requires a minimum of 4 years in management with a background in environmental services; a GED is required and a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. The position supports an evening schedule with a focus on operational excellence and staff development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years managerial/supervisory experience.
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and recommend environmental hygiene maintenance for new floor coverings, wall coverings, furnishings, and interior finishes before purchase.
• Manages departmental budgets (e.g., capital, projects, supplies, operations).
• Ensures regulated medical waste is handled, packaged, stored, and disposed of by federal and state regulations and documentation is maintained.
• Manages resources for the environmental services dept and provides staffing recommendations.
• Completes HR responsibilities for interviewing, hiring, staff development, and engagement needs.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives for training, auditing, and inspections.
• Collaborates with EVS director on dashboard metrics to track operations.
• Promotes safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, and employee engagement.
• Coordinates scheduling and oversees subcontractors and vendors.
• Performs on-call emergency services when needed.
• Prepares general and technical reports; develops SME in environmental services and regulatory compliance.
