Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Environmental Services Coordinator in a hospital setting to plan, monitor, and assign tasks for EVS staff, ensure cleanliness standards, and support shift operations.

You will oversee moves and setups, coordinate attendance, assist with orientation, training, and daily environmental services functions, and participate in quality-control inspections to uphold hospital cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred.
• 3–6 months of housekeeping experience in hospital or institutional setting preferred.
• Ability to walk for long hours, stand for long hours, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, plan, and implement scheduled work activities for Environmental Services staff.
• Monitor assigned areas throughout the work shift.
• Observe employee work quality and effectiveness to ensure hospital environmental cleanliness standards.
• Coordinate and facilitate moves and setups requested by departments and off-site buildings.
• Open shifts by assigning aides to schedules and issuing keys and pagers when the supervisor is absent.
• Coordinate work assignments and delegate work to Environmental Services aides.
• Respond to policy and procedure issues involving Environmental Services aides.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs on department equipment.
• Check equipment batteries weekly.
• Assist with new employee orientation, training, and assigned-area work.
• Assist with planning, monitoring, and implementing daily Environmental Services functions.
• Ensure discharges and transfers are completed promptly.
• Ensure daily scheduled meeting setup requests are completed within the required period.
• Perform housekeeping duties during critical staffing shortages.
• Revise work assignments to address absences or workload demands.
• Assist with quality-control inspections and monitor follow-up actions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred


• Three to six months of experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting preferred


• Ability to walk for up to 6–7 hours per day, stand for up to 6–7 hours per day, and sit for up to 4 hours per day


• Frequent fingering and handling; occasional twisting and turning of hands


• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional carrying up to 25 lbs., rarely up to 50 lbs.


• Occasional pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs., rarely up to 75 lbs.


• Occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level


• Rarely climbing a ladder up to 10 feet


• Hearing sufficient for normal conversation and vision sufficient for general and near vision
