Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; CHEST certification within 18 months of hire is expected.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Eighteen months of environmental services or housekeeping experience in healthcare.
  • One year of supervisory or project lead experience; internal candidates with 6 months may be considered.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.

Job description

  • Support team members who clean and disinfect the physical environment for patients, visitors, and staff members
  • Open and close shifts and ensure all job assignments are completed properly
  • Track Team Member progress and perform quality inspections
  • Provide supplies and equipment and ensure adequate inventory and storage of supplies and linen
  • Assign tasks and projects and manage the bed tracking application
  • Answer phone calls, complete customer requests, and resolve daily operational issues
  • Operate UV lights
  • Assume responsibility for running the shift in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Perform and document cleaning inspections; train and give feedback to team members
  • Ensure proper storage of machines and floor cleaning equipment
  • Represent Environmental Services positively and professionally
  • Follow up on cleaning or staff issues and deescalate situations
  • Provide feedback to team members and the Supervisor on team member performance
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with patients, visitors, staff members, and Environmental Services personnel
  • Report facilities/maintenance issues to the Supervisor and input work orders
  • Clean and disinfect clinical, support, common, office, laboratory, conference room, elevator, stairwell, corridor, and external grounds areas
  • Handle and dispose of medical waste and sharps using required precautions
  • Use proper chemicals, tools, and equipment; clean blood or potentially infectious-material spills according to established procedures
  • Occasionally travel to off-site locations
  • Complete required departmental education and training and train team members
  • Follow cleaning, safety, infection control, PPE, hand hygiene, and regulatory procedures
  • Follow instructions from Environmental Services management
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Ability to take initiative and follow oral/written instructions and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised at times
  • Evidence of a good driving record and maintain a good record per Moffitt Policy
  • High School Diploma/GED required; an additional six (6) months of related experience may be considered in lieu of a High School Diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Eighteen months of environmental services or housekeeping experience, inclusive of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
  • One (1) year Supervisory or Project Lead experience; internal candidates with 6 months supervisory or project lead experience may be considered
  • Must complete Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification within 18 months of hire
  • Valid Driver’s License required
