Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare seeks a detail-oriented EVS professional to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include safeguarding PHI, adhering to safety practices, and maintaining floors and storage areas to hospital standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Six months experience in guest-centric fast-paced environments or customer service/hospitality preferred.
  • Hospital environmental services experience highly preferred.
  • Basic housekeeping skills including vacuum cleaner operation.
  • Experience/training with auto scrubber, burnishes and buffers.
  • Basic Windows and mouse skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard and preserve patient confidentiality and PHI in line with HIPAA and hospital policies.
  • Ensure a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices.
  • Clean assigned areas with correct chemicals and equipment.
  • Follow hospital/EVS policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow safety procedures as outlined in manuals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of locked medication storage rooms.
  • Keep daily reports on project work or room cleaning; complete maintenance request forms and notify Supervisor.
  • Maintain all equipment in safe, clean, and proper working order.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and performance of EVS Schedule requirements.
  • Sign in/out communication tools; report any damage to Supervisor.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Director/Supervisor.

  • Safeguard and preserves the confidentiality of patients and protected health information in accordance with the state and federal (HIPPA) regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental policies.

  • Ensure a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy.

  • Cleaning assigned work areas with the correct chemicals and equipment.

  • Know and follow hospital/EVS policy and procedures at atll times.

  • Follow safety procedures exactly as outlined in the department’s procedure manual.

  • Maintain cleanliness and security of locked medication storage rooms as required.

  • Maintain daily reports on project work or room cleaning. Ensure maintenance request forms are completed. Notify Supervisor of problems.

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain all equipment in the assigned work area assuring that is in safe, clean and proper working order.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and performance of all skills required on the EVS Schedule.

  • Pick up communication tools/equipment by signing in and out at the beginning and ending of each shift. Report any damage to Supervisor.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by Director/Supervisor.
