Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a Police Property and Evidence Technician to receive, store and maintain security of confiscated property, evidence and vehicles in a warehouse setting. The role ensures proper chain of custody and prepares items for transport to the crime lab, while coordinating with sworn personnel and external agencies.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, and 3 years in a law enforcement support role, with forklift/terminal operator certifications and a valid AZ

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of relevant experience working in a supporting role in a law enforcement agency.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Carry out on-call duties and responsibilities for after-hours response as needed.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, stores and maintains security of confiscated property, evidence and vehicles.
  • Verifies, tags, marks, packages, documents chain of custody utilizing electronic database systems and stores each property and evidence item received from sworn personnel.
  • Reviews lab analysis request forms submitted by sworn personnel for evidence items and prepares forms for indexing.
  • Communicates with internal police personnel, prosecutors, other law enforcement agencies, insurance companies and citizens regarding status of property and evidence.
