Job summary

The City of Irving Police Department is seeking an Evidence Custodian to receive, catalog, store, and retrieve evidence, ensuring its integrity throughout the judicial process. Responsibilities include preparing evidence for court and coordinating the final disposition of property after court actions.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, NCIC certification, a Texas driver’s license, and a polygraph/background check. Schedule is Mon–Fri 8am–5pm with occasional weekend hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Must obtain NCIC certification and possess a Texas driver's license.
• CJIS access requires a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

• Receive, catalog, store and retrieve evidence.
• Prepare evidence for court.
• Coordinate final disposition of property after court action.
• Conduct research to identify owners of found property.
• Order and issue equipment, clothing and supplies to officers.
