The role involves building relationships, coordinating intake, assessing eligibility, connecting tenants with resources, and documenting outcomes to support housing stability. 40-hour weeks, on-site in Lancaster, PA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, law, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing, eviction prevention, or related social services.
  • Knowledge of fair housing law, landlord/tenant rights, and eviction procedures.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations experiencing housing instability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with the local magisterial district judge and court staff.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with local landlords to foster a cooperative approach to eviction prevention.
  • Support relationships with partnering organizations and services to further program and client success.
  • Serve as liaison between landlords, tenants, and local professionals to mediate conflicts and negotiate solutions that prevent eviction.
  • Manage incoming eviction hearing docket and develop tools to connect with clients prior to hearing.
  • Review and determine tenant’s eligibility for service in the program.
  • Work directly with tenants facing eviction to assess their needs and connect them with appropriate resources.
  • Attend court hearing to assist tenants in completing intake forms, connecting eligible tenants to legal representation, and documenting court outcomes.
  • Assist tenants in negotiating with landlords to prevent eviction by facilitating communication and addressing concerns related to payment and lease violations.
  • Help coordinate payment plans and agreements between tenants and landlords that ensure both parties are satisfied and eviction is avoided prior to court hearing.
  • Conduct intakes, collect documentation and schedule appointments with Tenfold’s Housing Counseling team for additional services and counseling.
  • Maintain accurate case files, documenting all interactions, negotiations, and outcomes related to eviction prevention efforts.
  • Input case data in Tenfold CMS-Homeward Bound within 72 hours of service delivery and into Empower Lancaster when required.
  • Track and report eviction prevention efforts, identifying trends and barriers to success.
  • Coordinate with social service agencies, legal organizations, and other community resources to provide holistic support to tenants.
