Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Brooklyn Center. You will support individuals with identified needs through person‑centered care and build meaningful relationships with clients and the team.

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour, with a potential increase to $16.50 after six months of consistent employment, plus a $1,500 hiring bonus. Training is provided; no prior experience is required. Work is in a residential setting, supporting up to 4 people.

Qualifications

• Genuine heart for helping others and dedication to person‑centered care.
• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care and stay connected with the team.
• Ability to read and write in English to ensure clear communication.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record to support community involvement.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check to ensure a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household tasks, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for the rights, needs, and preferences of people with identified needs.
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Support a residential group home setting up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Collaborate with a mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
