Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with identified needs pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person-centered care. You’ll build meaningful relationships, assist with daily living activities, and advocate for rights and preferences in a residential setting.

This role offers $17.00 per hour with a potential increase to $17.50 after six months of consistent employment, plus a $2,000 hiring bonus.

Qualifications

• Empathy and compassionate care for individuals with identified needs.
• Willingness to learn and adapt; training provided.
• Proficiency in basic computer use to document care and stay connected.
• Ability to read and write in English for clear communication.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; ability to pass checks.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships and provide guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for rights, needs, and preferences of individuals served.
• Monitor health and well-being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
