Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals pursue their hopes and goals through person-centered care. This part-time, on-site role pays $16.00 per hour with a $2,500 hiring bonus and offers opportunities for wage increases after six months of consistent employment.

You’ll build relationships, assist with daily living tasks, support community involvement, and advocate for rights and preferences.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
