EVENTS MANAGER

The Housing Industry Foundation (HIF) Events Manager, reporting to HIF’s Managing Director, is responsible for leading all of HIF’s events as well as recruiting and managing new and existing sponsors. The Events Manager serves as the face and representative of HIF for all HIF events both promoting and developing sponsorship and donor relationships as well as volunteer opportunities and management. This position is both a champion for HIF and our events in a frontward facing role actively soliciting support, developing and strengthening relationships as well as a back of the house management, coordination and follow-up role ensuring the operational effectiveness of all HIF events.

Responsibilities

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

  • Lead and manage all of HIF’s events, including:
    • Home Runs for Housing kickball tournament
    • Hope for Housing 5k
    • September Summit Gala fundraiser
    • Major Gifts Trades Luncheon
    • Rod Standard Real Estate Luncheon
    • Year-end Donor Appreciation event
    • Year-end Volunteer Appreciation event
    • Current and future events benefiting HIF
    • Benefit Events toolkit and templates development (alongside the Executive Director and Managing Director)
    • Help manage and co-lead the Building Leaders Initiative (BLI) events and other Board and Major Gifts related prospect cultivation and ‘friendraiser’ events
    • Assist with HIF program related events and promotion of other event related activities including board meetings, networking events and renovation service days
  • Serve as main point of contact for solicitation, correspondence, RSVP management, logistics, volunteers, donor/vendor follow up, and event promotion and management
  • Actively engage with and solicit support from HIF’s existing and potential supporters, sponsors, board members and volunteers
  • Closely manage and engage with key sponsor contacts and leaders to ensure effective guest management and to assist with attendee communication, event protocols, registration while helping HIF to ensure effective events and appropriate and positive guest participation
  • Solicit, research, and develop new ideas for events, changes and improvements to existing events
  • Under the direction of HIF’s ED, Managing Director and the Strategic Planning Committee, actively participate and contribute to HIF’s next strategic planning process and how HIF’s events can and should support it.
  • Assist with any administrative tasks related to the position and ensure event supplies, inventory and other needs are accounted for and/or secured as needed.
  • Work with the Managing Director and ED to contribute ideas and the formulation throughout the year, of staff development trainings and team building activities
EVENT VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AND CULTIVATION

  • Lead all Events Committee and subcommittee meetings
  • Coordinate and vet potential volunteers for Committee membership
  • Ensure appropriate and thorough volunteer training and day of event task and lead volunteer management
  • Attend BLI meetings and coordinate HIF related support, activities and marketing

EVENT DATABASE AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage event donor database and reporting
  • Work closely with HIF’s Operations Manager to ensure timely and accurate pledge invoicing, confirmation of payment, acknowledgements and reporting
  • Create and manage, with input from HIF’s Managing Director and ED, all event budgets ensuring appropriate expense and revenue projections and post event reporting on budget to actual outcomes

WEBSITE AND MARKETING COORDINATION

  • Relative to HIF Events, work with HIF Development Manager to co-own managing HIF’s online presence, including HIF website, social media, and email newsletters
  • Prepare Event summaries, impact and evaluation reports and outcomes, memos, and letters for internal and external publication purposes as needed
  • Solicit and prepare Event sponsor, and volunteer testimonials and stories for marketing purposes
  • Work with HIF volunteers, consultants, and agencies to create and produce media and print content for various platforms and uses, particularly for HIF events

The above is a general outline of the Event Manager’s scope of work. Additional duties and tasks may be assigned as needed in order to support the HIF team and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years proven events management experience
  • Leader with a positive, collaborative spirit
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter working independently and as part of a team, requiring minimal supervision in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong work ethic and team player with the ability to laugh and celebrate successes and milestones big and small
  • Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior project management competencies
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to effectively work with a range of individual and corporate contributors, board members, foundations, volunteers, and staff
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office software systems and products required
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred but not required

Compensation & Schedule

  • $85,000 - $95,000 DOE
  • Bonus potential depending on performance
  • Full-time salaried position (Monday through Friday and weekends as needed)
  • Hybrid work schedule; 3 days in office, 2 days remote
