Job summary

asmglobal seeks an Assistant Operations Manager at the Hampton Roads Convention Center to coordinate personnel, supervise contractors, and ensure seamless event execution. You will oversee maintenance, housekeeping, and setup tasks, aligning goals with the Director of Operations and the Operations Manager.

This role requires flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and the ability to walk long distances and navigate stairs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
• 3+ years related experience in the public assembly/operations field.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Manages employees in various functions including event setup, conversions/tear down, facility inspections, maintenance, scheduling, and light construction.
• Directs, supervises and schedules all aspects of Operations including event staffing, grounds, maintenance, housekeeping, setups and change overs.
• Directs and motivates subordinates in a respectful manner to maintain morale.
• Communicates and manages staff to execute event details for facility readiness and smooth operation.
• Manage full and part-time staff including interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints.
• Develop operating procedures that conform to corporate standards and are tailored to facility needs.
