POSITION DETAILS
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens , LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Reporting to the Director of Events, the Events & Media Services Coordinator will assist in the planning, coordinating, and execution of events on campus. The Events and Media Services Coordinator will coordinate, but not limited to, the following:
Ensures that internal events are scheduled through the Coursedog system and works with campus constituents on logistics and event details.
Conducts pre- and post-event walkthrough to make sure events are conducted in a professional matter.
Provides AV/IT support to internal events that use in-house equipment.
This position occasionally provides event support outside of normal business hours (mornings/nights/weekends) which will be scheduled in advance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong attention to details and organizational skills.

Assists in logistical and program planning for seminars, conferences, and special events.
Represents unit to internal and external organizations and vendors, handling many inquiries independently.
Organizes correspondence, accounts, contracts, and billing for all events.
Creates and distributes marketing communications and materials; create and distribute any required event materials.
Coordinates invitations, reservations, and ticket arrangements as needed; manages travel arrangements and/or special guest requirements.
Assures technology and equipment are available as needed and operate properly.
Collects information to evaluate program/event success, and report results to management.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$44,411 - $62,689
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
