Job summary

ArtsQuest is seeking an overnight Event Staff member to protect the Christkindlmarkt site, equipment, and crews from early November through December 2026. Potential to remain seasonally for 2027 daytime and overnight shifts. Primarily supporting Christkindlmarkt, Musikfest, and Oktoberfest.

Role requires alertness, outdoor work in all weather, and strong communication, with a PA background check and clearance. Valid driver’s license and reliable transport are required for shift coverage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be friendly, personable and have excellent communication skills.
• Must be a team player and be able to work well with others; previous customer service experience preferred (at least 1 year); must have strong people skills, including diplomacy and empathy.
• Ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, and able to problem solve to effectively deal with internal and external customers, occasionally under stressful conditions.
• Read, write, speak and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job; bi-lingual in Spanish or Asian dialect a plus
• Ability to satisfactorily complete a PA Criminal History Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance

Responsibilities

• Monitor and protect all property, equipment, and staff in designated event sites; prevent harm, damage, and loss of property
• Enforce public access restrictions to designated areas
• Document the arrival and departures of approved overnight work crews/employees
• Communicate any suspicious behavior or activities to Supervisors and/or Emergency Services (Police/Fire/EMS)
• Assist with loss prevention in the event of a weather emergency. May be asked to clear rain water (summer) or snow (winter) from pop-up or pole tents, spread ice melt, and activate and monitor tent heaters.
• May be asked to assist with light-duty trash clean-up on rare occasions

Position Overview:

Ensure the protection and safety of the ArtsQuest Christkindlmarkt event site, property, equipment, and overnight work crews. This is a temporary overnight position specifically for Christkindlmarkt and runs from early November through the end of December 2026. Employees hired for this position may be kept on the ArtsQuest Event Staff team as Seasonal Employees for the 2027 calendar year for daytime and overnight shifts. The overnight shift is based solely on event needs and primarily, but not exclusively, includes Christkindlmarkt, Musikfest, and Oktoberfest.

Overnight Specific Job Responsibilities

• Ability to multi-task with ease; organized, accurate and cooperative
• Read, write, speak and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job; bi-lingual in Spanish or Asian dialect a plus
• Ability to satisfactorily complete a PA Criminal History Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance

Hours

• Must be available to work overnight between 11pm – 9am

Physical Abilities Required

• Must be able to stay awake and alert during the overnight shift.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with the assistance of others
• Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, lift, push, pull, pinch, grip, reach overhead, reach away from the body, and repetitive motion
• Ability to speak, see, hear, smell, feel (identify objects by touch), depth perception and color vision
