Job summary

Craven County Government is seeking an Event Preparation Assistant for the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. The role involves supporting day-to-day events, setting up spaces, and maintaining cleanliness before and after events.

You will read event sheets and floor plans, determine equipment needs, and provide backup support to staff. Hours are irregular and include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Read, write, basic math.
• Read, write, communicate with customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down event spaces with tables, chairs, staging, step units, moveable walls and AV equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness in all areas and assist Event Service Representative.
• Perform custodial duties in public areas during and after events.
• Provide backup support to Convention Center staff during events and setup/teardown.
• Read Event Preparation Sheets and floor plans to determine equipment needs; work under Assistant Director.
