Job summary

Hotel Magdalena in South Austin seeks a Houseperson - Event Set Up to prepare, arrange and maintain event spaces for meetings, banquets, weddings and other special events. You will set up tables, chairs, linens and equipment and ensure guest-ready spaces.

The role requires physical work, flexibility in hours, and collaboration with Event Coordinators and Banquet staff to meet event specifications while upholding safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in event setup or similar role.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and other equipment.
• Ensure all event areas are clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Assist with placement and setup of audio-visual equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventory of event supplies and report shortages or damages.
• Collaborate with event coordinators and other staff to meet the needs of each event.
• Provide excellent customer service to guests and address questions promptly.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Service Manager or Event Coordinator.
