Job summary

Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc. in Philadelphia seeks an Event Porter to set up, service, and clean event spaces before, during, and after programs and signature events.

You will work with the Event Manager, staff, clients, and vendors to ensure a welcoming, safe environment. This role requires a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and physical stamina to move furniture and assist with cleanups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent hospitality, customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and presentation standards.
• Ability to take direction and collaborate with event/tech teams.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Comfortable in fast-paced hospitality environments.
• Proactive, reliable, and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong time management and task prioritization.
• Teamwork and basic tool skills for assembling/disassembling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Logistical Layout Coordination: review floorplans and set up chairs, tables, staging, and other furniture to standard layouts or client requests; perform thorough pre-event cleaning of the venue; assist with banners, signage, and basic setup needs.
• Mid-Event Operations Support: monitor high-traffic areas, bus tables, clear trash, wipe spills, and restock restrooms and public areas; respond to safety or containment needs; coordinate with event/tech teams.
• Restoration: dismantle setups, pack away signage and linens, manage inventory, perform post-event cleaning and trash removal; restore spaces to pre-event condition or reset layout for next program.
