Job summary

San Mateo County Event Center is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to drive year-round event sales and support growth across consumer, trade, corporate, and special events.

You will manage inquiries through contracts, prepare proposals, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure client requirements align with venue policies. Strong communication, organization, and CRM familiarity are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of event sales or venue sales experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple sales opportunities through the sales cycle.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients, vendors, and partners.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn CRM and event software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage the full sales cycle.
• Respond to incoming inquiries with pricing, capacity, and policies.
• Maintain event opportunity calendar and CRM records.
• Lead generation via calls, emails, networking, and industry events.
• Provide detailed event summaries to coordinators and other departments.
• Collaborate with marketing to promote sales and drive bookings.
• Maintain relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business.
• Attend local industry mixers and events to promote SMCEC services.
• Support invoicing and post-activation documentation for weather shelters.
