Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking an Event Planning Instructor to join the Continuing Education pool. The role involves teaching assigned courses in multiple times and locations as needed, developing syllabus-aligned instruction, and using varied methods to reach diverse students.

You will maintain attendance, input final grades into WebDMC, and support community engagement while upholding the College’s standards and policies in a security-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years related work experience.
  • Plan instruction based on approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
  • Ability to utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
  • Knowledge of the Event Planning Profession.
  • Two (2) years teaching or training experience.
  • Experience developing lesson plans and curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce students to the basic fundamentals of Event Planning. Including instruction in preparing a budget, working with vendors, event décor, planning special effects including, floral, lighting, props, floor plans, table service, and advertising for a simulated event.
  • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline of Event Planning. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work. Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning. Maintain daily attendance rosters. Input final student grades into WebDMC. Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.

Minimum Qualifications
