Job summary

The City of Ypsilanti is seeking an Event Attendant for part-time support at city parks and the Freighthouse. Responsibilities include opening, monitoring, and securing the venue, ensuring safety, restocking supplies, and assisting with event layouts and tours on weekends and flexible hours.

Qualifications include a valid driver’s license, hospitality/event knowledge, and strong customer service. CPR/First Aid or ServSafe are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to operate City vehicles between park locations and facilities.
• Knowledge of hospitality, catering, or event management preferred.
• Detail oriented with high attentiveness.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Knowledge of kitchen appliances and safety procedures for storing and preparing food.
• Strong customer service focus and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Greet and engage with the onsite point of contact during events.
• Interact with coordinators, renters, vendors, guests, and the public to ensure service quality.
• Complete pre- and post-event checklists for facility readiness and inventory accuracy.
• Inventory tables and chairs before and after events.
• Coordinate event layouts, lighting, loading/unloading, and accessible fire exits.
• Secure the facility during and after events.
• Respond to inquiries during events.
• Monitor and restock restroom supplies.
• Enforce facility-use policies and safety rules.
• Assist with maintaining visitor comfort during summer events by monitoring airflow.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
