Job summary

Michaels in Charleston West Ashley is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including kids’ birthday parties and craft classes, creating a fun, engaging experience for guests. You’ll help customers, manage checkout flow, coordinate with store teams, handle email and calls, and ensure safety and cleanliness.

Must enjoy working with people, especially children, and have strong organizational and communication skills. Evening and weekend hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have excellent people skills.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
• Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
• Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
• Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
• Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
