Job summary

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a permanent Facility Operations Assistant 1 (SG-6) to support the Great New York State Fair at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. The role covers cleaning, facility maintenance, and delivering event services such as setup, equipment operation, and post‑event cleanup.

The standard schedule is 40 hours per week, Thursday through Monday, 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Qualifications

• There are no education or experience qualifications for this class.
• Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks and have a NYS driver\'s license appropriate for operating vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain event facilities and provide event services (set-up, equipment operation, post-event cleanup).
• Operate vehicles and equipment for snow removal and groundskeeping as needed.
• Work in a small or large crew on specific assignments.
• Support daily care of facilities and grounds.
