Job summary

The Italian Heritage Center in Portland is seeking an experienced Cook or Chef to join our events team on a flexible, event-based basis.

As our event calendar grows, the role has potential to become a regular 20–40 hour-per-week position, with evenings and weekends common; compensation is $24–$28 per hour, based on experience.

Event Cook / Chef – Flexible Hours with Growth Potential

The Italian Heritage Center in Portland is looking for an experienced Cook/Chef to join our team, initially on a flexible, event-based basis.

Our facility hosts weddings, banquets, celebrations, club functions and other special events throughout the year. With new management in place and a focus on growing our event business, this position has the potential to develop into a more regular 20–40 hour-per-week role as our event schedule expands.

We are looking for someone who enjoys preparing food for groups and special events and who would welcome flexible hours now with the opportunity for the position to grow.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Previous cooking, catering, banquet or commercial kitchen experience
• Ability to prepare and execute meals for groups and special events
• Dependable and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Evening and weekend availability for scheduled events
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced event environment
• Pride in food quality, presentation and guest experience

Schedule:

Initially, hours will vary based on our event calendar and regular weekly hours cannot yet be guaranteed. There is potential for the position to grow to approximately 20–40 hours per week as event volume increases.

Compensation:

$24–$28 per hour, depending on experience.
