Green Apple Catering & Events seeks an on-site Event Captain to lead service teams and ensure flawless execution at NYC’s high-profile events. You’ll oversee setup through breakdown, coordinating with clients and venues to maintain schedule and quality.
With 2+ years in catering or event management, you’ll excel at calm decision-making under pressure and strong communication with staff and clients, delivering exceptional guest experiences.
When 500 guests are seated, the kitchen is firing, and the client is watching — someone needs to be in control. Green Apple Catering & Events is looking for an Event Captain who can manage service teams, solve problems in real time, and deliver the kind of seamless experience that keeps corporate clients coming back year after year. This isn't a behind-the-scenes role. You're the leader on the floor.
The Event Captain is the on-site authority for Green Apple at every event. You'll direct servers, bartenders, and support staff through setup, service, and breakdown. You'll communicate with the client, coordinate with venue management, and make judgment calls that keep the event running smoothly — even when things don't go according to plan.
Green Apple has been producing events across New York City, building a reputation with clients like Morgan Stanley, Amazon, and Cartier. As an Event Captain, you'll benefit from working with a DOHMH-licensed, HACCP-certified operation that has clear SOPs, trained staff, and a production kitchen that consistently delivers. When you lead for Green Apple, you're not improvising — you're executing a proven system at the highest level.
Team sizes vary by event. A small corporate dinner might have 5-8 staff, while a large-scale gala or holiday party can require 30-50+ servers, bartenders, and support staff. You'll receive a staffing plan in advance of each event.
New Event Captains shadow experienced captains on several events before leading independently. You'll also receive training on Green Apple's service standards, safety protocols, and communication procedures with both clients and the operations team.
Yes. The Event Captain is the primary on-site representative for Green Apple. You'll greet the client or event planner, confirm the timeline, provide service updates, and address any requests or concerns throughout the event.
Most events run 4 to 8 hours including setup and breakdown. Corporate lunches tend to be shorter, while evening galas, weddings, and holiday parties may run longer. Captains are expected to be on-site from setup through final breakdown.
