Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the 2nd shift in the Emergency Department. The role involves patient registration, verification of demographics and insurance, and handling payments and co-pays while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry experience.
• Proficiency in Keyboarding.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in lieu of two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting records, then document demographic and insurance information.
• Explain and collect regulatory and consent documents while ensuring privacy compliance.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances; perform payments securely.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties and provide updates to families in waiting areas.
