Job summary

City of Bella Vista in Arkansas is seeking a part-time Youth Services Specialist to develop and maintain Children’s department programming under the supervision of the Children and Youth Services Librarian. The position requires evening work and an approximate 19.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities include assisting with public services and youth programs, story times and teen activities, opening/closing the library, supervising evening volunteers, and maintaining displays and reference services

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; library degree a plus.
• At least 1 year in public library youth services or 2+ years in public library.
• Excellent computer skills and familiarity with library principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of public services, policies and programs.
• Help with children and teen programming (story times, Teen Advisory Board, Summer Reading, events).
• Create programs for ages 8-12 under supervision.
• Supervise evening volunteers and provide training as needed.
• Open/close library and provide reference and reader's advisory services.
• Assist with collection management and displays; work at circulation desk as needed.
